Italian Grand Prix
FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO D’ITALIA
The Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix has been held at the circuit of Monza since 1922, with the exception of a few years.
Monza, aptly named the Temple of Speed, is the quickest circuit on the Formula 1 calendar allowing the drivers and cars to reach their highest speeds on the long straights that are only interrupted by a hand full of chicanes and high-speed corners.
These single seaters will race the historic track in Monza Park. Commissioned by Napoleon’s stepson Eugene De Beauharnais in 1806 and completed in 1808 it is the first largest walled park in Europe extending over an area of 688 hectares. The Monza race circuit is 5.793 km in length and has a racing distance of 306.72 km. Monza has been an integral part of Formula 1 since its inception, and according to many, its rich history makes it the personification of the sport.
